Happy 4th Birthday to Gavin

Baby Brynn's car seat was in storage in Salt Lake City.    It will soon be needed in California.  So, I selflessly volunteered to personally deliver the car seat to Jim and Kathie's house.  It was just coincidental that when I dropped it off, I was able to stay for a few extra days to celebrate little Gavin's fourth birthday with him!

So.....when I walked into their house, Griffin's first words were:  "Grandpa's not coming." Followed later by, "I miss Grandpa."  Poor little guy loves his grandpa so much!  But, eventually, he decided I would be an adequate substitute.  While I was there....I got plenty of snuggles and backscratch time with little Griff.

Gavin was spoiled with lots of flashcards, workbooks, coloring books, reading and math activity cards, and sat down with me several times to finish pages in his books and get stickers on the pages.  He is one SMART little guy!  And look at this letter sheet he did all by himself.  He concentrates on his task and is so focused.

We made a trip to Costco, and when we got home, I built this:  The Tower of Diapering Ridiculousness.  Newborn, Size 3/4, and pull ups, all accompanied by a mere 900 wipes.

I gave both the boys hair cuts, which were two completely miraculous events, considering how much the wiggled.  Jim kept them focused and looking forward by getting them to hold still using fruit snacks.  He'd hold the fruit snack on their nose and they'd count to 20 without moving.  If they did it, they could eat the treat.   I've never cut so fast in my life!
Gavin's birthday morning, he opened a couple of gifts, then went off to Joy School. When he returned, Kathie had created and set up this darling Jake and the Neverland Pirates (his current favorite) Treasure hunt.  He read this on the front door, along with his first clue, then put on his Jake pirate scarf and went searching for the clues
.

The clues were under the kitchen table, on his stuffed animals, in his drum, in his toys, on the TV, under his bed, and in the bathtub!  He figured out all the clues and raced from one spot to the next, looking for his "treasure."
He was so excited when he discovered each new clue.

And finally, "X" marked the spot where all the rest of his presents awaited!

After opening more presents and a quick McDonalds lunch, he put on his new helmet, hopped on his new scooter, and went outside to test it out.

Gavin chose bowling for his birthday activity, and he is a pretty darn good bowler!

Griffin was all smiles too!

We pizza for birthday dinner, then home for Jake and the Neverland Pirate cupcakes...

Then we got to play with all the birthday games and toys
.....and read book after book after book....  And this grandma was in heaven!

Happy Birthday to sweet little Gavin.  Thanks for letting me come and visit!
