Together in the Tetons

When asked where he'd like to go for a few days upon return from his mission, Landon chose a family vacation to one of our favorite spots: Jackson Lake and the Tetons. We carpooled into Jackson Hole where we had a quick lunch and let the willing take a ride on the Alpine Slide. Then we made our way in to the park to Colter Bay.

We seem to find a lot of pleasure in doing some of the same things over and over....nightly games and firesides in one of the cabins, pizza at Leek's Marina Restaurant, dinner at the counter at Jackson Lake Lodge, and the horse drawn carriage ride up the Wind River Canyon to the Castango Outfitters Chuckwagon.

Amy dressed as if it were the middle of an arctic blizzard. Okay, I'll admit, we did have a rather chilly day, considering it is mid august.

We dropped part of our group off on Gwilliam Island near the base of Mt. Moran, but when we returned with the rest of the party, we found the natives were getting a little restless. They hid on one side of the island, and as the boat pulled up to the beach, this is the site that greeted us as we were all ambushed. Funny kids!

Another fun thing about having Landon home is that we get to take Jessica with us again! She did great when she tried to slalom this year and let us know, "This is a piece of cake!"

Jim demonstrates great form with scenic backdrop.

Landon clearly didn't lose any of his graceful skiing ability while he was away.

Richie has been a wake boarder, but was willing to try his hand (or foot, as the case may be) at slalom skiing, and was the first one who volunteered to check water temperature for us. He took right off, demonstrating great athletic ability!

After a few days in the Tetons, we decided we better get back home to get these two lovebirds married off so they can sail....ahem...ski off into the sunset together.
