Meets, invitationals, early morning work outs, afternoon workouts, championships. Finally, after weeks of all of the above, the track season ended! At region, Lauren qualified to participate in the State Championships in three events: High Jump (1st Place), 100 M Hurdles (4th Place) and 4x100 relay (1st Place). At the State Championships at BYU, she had a disappointing jumping day, but still took 3rd place. She didn't qualify for the finals in hurdles (took 12th Place), but the fun surprise of the meet was their 4x100 team, which was not expected to even be at state--they were ranked 7th after the preliminaries, and ended up taking 5th place in state! What a great performance for Whitney, Dominique, Lauren and Ashley.
Last week, THS did a presentation of awards for the team. Lauren was awarded MVP Junior girl, and her high jumping team mate, Mike Staker (who took 1st place in men's high jump at state) was awarded MVP All Round male. Both jumpers were given a huge framed photo of themselves high jumping, since they broke the school's high jumping records this year.
We will miss Lauren's track war cry: "SPANDEX!"

Congrats on all your track accomplishments. Impressive. I did the 100 hurdles when I was in high school. I get 4th place in our district, but only the top 3 went on to compete. what kind of times are girls getting nowadays?
