Taylorsville Dayzz dawned bright and sunny for a change, so we walked (yeah, that's right--it isn't a typo) down the Canal Road to 5400 South to watch the infamous T-Ville Dayzz parade. Never mind that hundreds of runners, who were on the final leg of their 5k race, were whizzing by us, barely breaking a sweat. Never mind that I was huffing and puffing harder than most all of them. We made it to the parade route in plenty of time to stand around for a half hour waiting for the 2-hour long parade to actually begin. Now, if you're enthralled by participants who are passing out coupons to their karate studio, or inviting you to a free dinner at their restaurant if you'll agree to listen to a presentation on fire safety systems for your home, then this was the parade for you! Oh, there were a few bands, and the traditional bagpipers, a couple of floats, and a sheriff motorcycle posse, but generally, the most entertaining part of the parade was holding baby Eliza and watching Cristiana compete with the family of children next to us as they all dashed out into the street to retrieve taffy thrown by parade participants. And, of course, the long walk and the long parade was made tolerable by KD and Ryan giving me one of their chairs and a bottle of water--thanks guys--and getting to see Lauren and the other Youth Ambassadors do their parade waves (elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, wrist) from inside a really nifty horse drawn carriage!
