Landon's Mission Call arrived today, and friends and family gathered tonight to watch him open the great news. He even included Jim & Kathie via Skype, so the whole family could participate. Landon has been called to the Texas San Antonio Mission, Spanish speaking. We could not be happier for him as it appears all of his prayers were answered (warm, no more shots, learn a language) and my prayers were answered (allow him to serve close to home)! He will enter the Provo MTC on July 30th.
Interesting to note that his momma and his girlfriend only shed a few tears ; but his cousin and his girlfriend's momma really turned on the water works. Go figure.
Dozens of friends and family submitted their guesses about where Landon would go. Congratulations to cousin Annie Phillips, who was the ONLY person to suggest that Texas was the spot. She won the closest guess, and got a gift card to......hey! Chili's!!! I guess that must have been inspired too!

Wow... So Even though I'm not technically a Gwilliam, I think it's my duty to comment first on this issue. Landon must be the most righteous boy in the land to receive such a great blessing. Not only a mission call, but one to the BEST mission currently in existence! Chase me down sometime so we can have a little information download. Interesting people notes just to start you off:

My neighbor Jake Naylor is starting PT school at Fort Sam (a branch covered by the missionaries) in August and will be anxious for splits as he is still single.
Anyway, I could give you a list of about 20 ex-TSAMer's that live there as well, but that's not important.

We read the big news on Jimmy's blog and just wanted to tell Landon congratulations. It looks like another Gwilliam son will get to enjoy some of that famous southern hospitality.
